Murder mystery is coming to Somerset West’s The Playhouse, to stage Agatha Christie’s classic whodunnit, The Hollow, which she adapted for the stage from her own Poirot novel.
The performances take place from today, Wednesday October 16, to Sunday October 20, and from Wednesday October 23 to Saturday October 26.
Audiences will be entertained and surprised by the twists and turns of the script and meet a cast of eccentric and engaging characters.
The Hottentots Holland Drama Society (HHDS) will present this new production of The Hollow, directed by Two Tall Ladies (Gretel Schulze-le Roux and Gillian Jones), under license from Samuel French.
“Dame Agatha Christie is no doubt literature’s most prolific detective story writer and The Playhouse is delighted to be staging one of her plays this year. A murder mystery is not only fun for the cast and crew but audiences are held on the edge of their seats,” says Darryl Spijkers, chairman of the Playhouse Theatre.
Gretel majored in drama, English and teaching at Stellenbosch University and the University of Sunderland before teaching in Taiwan, Zambia and Nigeria, and has been in a number of performances at The Playhouse.
This is Gillian’s directing debut at The Playhouse, but she has a background in both performance and direction, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
