Pupils at the Paul Roos Gymnasium (PRG) in Stellenbosch have excelled in various sport matches and tournaments recently, as well as in debating. One of their water polo teams also attended a two-week training camp in Hungary.
The under-19 cricket team competed in the Diamond Field T20 19A tournament in Kimberley and won three of their five matches.
The under-19A tennis team were crowned champions in the Grey College Tennis Tournament hosted in Bloemfontein. The team triumphed after beating Paarl Boys’ High School with a final score of 4-0. The winning team, from left, are coach Swannie Swanepoel, Willem de Waal, Pieter Kotze, Hanno Bouwer, Xander Pienaar, Sebastian Oosthuizen, Luke Verwey and Simeon Roothman.

Paul Roos pupils competed in the recent On The Tip Of Your Tongue debate competition. Dieter de Kock achieved third place nationally in the Afrikaans unprepared category and Lian Winckler came in 8th place in the Afrikaans prepared category.
Reuben de Wit and Lian Winckler participated in the English competition. Lian came second in the unprepared category. Reuben won the Golden Tongue category and came second in the unprepared category.
Christiaan van der Merwe, Altus du Plessis and Steffan Thielen ended in third place at the national final of the Dink of Sink unprepared debate on Saturday October 5, in Pretoria.
The PRG stayers (Grade 10 and 11) water polo team recently arrived in Eger, Hungary, to start their two-week training camp. They will spend six nights in Eger and six nights in Budapest working with Hungarian coaches, who are among the best in the world.
