Dance the night away

The group of dancers heading to Croatia.

An exciting year lies ahead for some of the dancers from a local dance studio, BeGraceful Studio.

Eight dancers, ranging in ages from 23 to 40, qualified as part of the South African team in the DanceStar Competition Qualifiers in November 2024.

They will travel with dancers from all over South Africa, as part of the National team, to Croatia in May 2025, where they will compete at the World Dance Masters.

They will also be attending various dance workshops hosted during the event, exposing them to new styles and choreographers from all over the world.

Leanne, owner of BeGraceful Studio says: “This is so super special for us - it’s usually the younger kids that are going on these types of trips.

“But we’re a group of senior (older) dancers, many of whom have danced most of their lives. We get to go overseas and compete on an International stage, to represent our country and our Studio.

“I couldn’t be more proud of these girls and this amazing achievement. We know we’ll do the Helderberg proud.”

BeGraceful Studio are hosting a Valentine’s Ball at De Hoop Primary School on Friday February 21. Tickets are R250 per person or R2 300 for a table of 10, and include dinner (guests may bring their own beverages for the evening).

Angie Mitchell will be singing live, there will be a DJ to keep the dance floor going. Dress up and join in for a fun evening in aid of fundraising to get to Croatia.

Tickets are available on Quicket, or email begracefultours@gmail.com for any queries.
