Pianist Marija Djukic will perform at Talani Terrace.
Helderberg Village will host a Piano Four Hands concert at their Talani Terrace, on Sunday February 16, at 4pm, featuring pianists Marija Djukic and Marija Bajalica.
The concert will showcase a selection of classical works arranged for two pianists at one piano, a form that allows for rich textures and dynamic interplay.
Both performers have extensive international experience as soloists, chamber musicians, and educators. Marija Djukic is a professor and Head of the Piano Department at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
She completed her studies in Serbia and continued her training in France, Switzerland, and Russia. Her career has included performances in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Greece, and Turkey.
She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and the RTS Symphonic Orchestra and has recorded for Radio Belgrade.
A significant part of her work has focused on Chopin’s compositions, and she has performed at major events, including a 2010 concert at the Kolarac Concert Hall in Belgrade, marking Chopin’s 200th anniversary.
Marija Bajalica trained in Serbia, winning prizes at national and international competitions, including the Carlo Soliva International Competition in Italy.
She performed as a soloist with the Belgrade Radio Television Symphony Orchestra before moving to South Africa, where she taught as a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria.
She also gave performances across the country, including in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and was a regular soloist for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
After relocating to Australia, she pursued doctoral studies at The University of Adelaide, where she later taught undergraduate and postgraduate piano students.
Her performances have included Recitals Australia, the Elder Hall Concert Series, and broadcasts on ABC Classic FM. She currently works as a freelancing artist with the Association of Music Artists of Serbia.
Djukic and Bajalica have collaborated in recent years to explore the Piano Four Hands repertoire, performing together at various concert venues.
The concert program includes a mix of well-known and less frequently performed works, of Sergei Rachmaninov, Carl Vine and Gabriel Fauré.
