Cape Ballet Africa presents a new programme of short works at the Drama Factory, where they perform Intermezzo, from Friday May 16 to Sunday May 25.

The production is a gentle and cathartic artistic offering from this recently established company fresh from their exceptional debut at the Artscape Opera House in March.

Celebrating Tchaikovsky features the composer’s most loved works for ballet including The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. A selection of iconic tunes form the basis for this suite profiling the beautiful artists of Cape Ballet Africa.

It will be staged by ballet luminaries Diane van Schoor and Lindy Raizenberg. Desiderata, the much-loved prose poem by writer Max Ehrmann forms the inspiration for the collection of choreographic works by South African choreographers, including Kirsten Isenberg, Yaseen Manuel, Lindy Raizenberg, Marlin Zoutman and Cape Ballet Africa artist Mia Coomber, who makes her debut as a choreographer.

Celebrated South African actor, Marcel Meyer, narrates the evocative and stirring text. The performances take place on May 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 7.30pm, and May 24 at 3pm, and May 25 at 4pm.

Tickets cost R280, and R260 for groups of 4. Book at www.dramafactory.co.za

The Drama Factory is situated at 10 Comprop Square, Henry Vos Close, Asla Business Park, Strand.
