The Western Cape Artists Society (WCAS) will meet on Thursday June 12, at 6pm for 6.30pm, at the Rotary Club Hall, Lourensford Road, Somerset West.

Susan was born in Johannesburg in 1945, educated in Kwa ZuluNatal, worked in the corporate world while raising a family and obtaining a BA degree in History of Art and English from Unisa in1990.

Susan started painting in 1986 and joined the Watercolour Society of South Africa. She became an associate in 1996, ascending from a Fellow in 2004, National Chairman in 2003 and 2004, and a Higher Associate in 2006.

In 1999 Susan opened a country Gallery in Muldersdrift, and started specialising in wild-life painting, combining the detail and accuracy necessary for an animal “portrait” with a suggestive and moody background to avoid photographic representation.

Susan has now diversified her interests and paints in various genres and media, her principal interest being in portraiture. In 2007 Susan was represented at the Sasol New Signatures Exhibition in Edinburgh, Scotland, and her paintings are in collections in the USA, Australia, France and the UK.

Guests are welcome, and R30, and members pay R20, and tea and snacks will be served. For more information, contact Colleen May, WCAS secretary, at 063 428 2655 or colleenmay007@gmail.com
