Garden club hosts marine biologist

Garden club talk The Hottentots Holland Garden Club is meeting on Wednesday July 9, at 10am, at the Somerset West Library Hall, Oak Street, Somerset West. Gavin Maneveld will be talking about "Between tide marks and rocky shores". Gavin is a marine biologist with a special interest in the global ecology, and naming of non-geniculate coralline red algae. Additionally, he is interested in the role that biological (eg competition, herbivory, etc) factors play in the intertidal distribution of macroalgae on rocky shores, and his research focuses on documenting and understanding patterns of intertidal seaweed diversity, and the documentation of that diversity for the public and for educational purposes.For more information, contact Christie Fourie at 083 407 1799.
