Helderberg Hospice celebrates 40th anniversary

Helderberg Hospice just celebrated their 40th anniversary High Tea, “A Ruby Affair”, to reflect thetraditional gift for a 40th anniversary.

The décor sparkled with ruby and gold, and so many guests shone in their themed red attire. The Strand Town Hall was filled with the sound clinking teacups, and each table was laden with elegant tableware and delectable eats, all provided by generous hostesses.

Karin Gordon, volunteer coordinator for Helderberg Hospice, welcomed guests and expressed gratitude to the Helderberg community for the overwhelming support of the event.

Helderberg Hospice Head of Nursing Services, Sr Thandi Sililo, addressed guests on the need for hospice and palliative care, and touched everyone with her deeply-felt experiences that the difference skilled, specialised, and compassionate care makes to patients and their loved ones.

Masterful MC, comedian Harold van der Merwe, kept the momentum of the afternoon going, and guests were treated to the beautiful sounds of brothers Joshua and Liam van der Heyde, and the amazing vocal talents of 15-year-old Amir van Rooyen and 12-year-old Mogamed Zayd Damon.

After a few exciting rounds of bingo, Ethan Jansen and Amber van Wyk wowed the crowd with their elegant ballroom dance routines, bringing the afternoon to a close.
