I have never in my life experienced such a cold winter as this one of 2024. Although it is officially spring in other parts of South Africa, here in the Western Cape it still feels as if I want to stay under a blanket with a good book all day....But, when a sunny day makes an appearance now and again, we love to go to the Helderberg Nature Reserve to experience the welcome sun on our faces, and noticed the weaver building a nest. It is then that we get the message that winter will not last until next year. So bring on the last freezing days and cold rain (and maybe a little bit of snow)...
