Pianist Ida Pelliccioli will enchant the audience at her upcoming performance.
The Helderberg Village Music Society presents a journey through time, with renowned pianist Ida Pelliccioli, on Sunday November 17, at 4pm at Talani Terrace.
The event marks the finale of Pelliccioli’s South African mini-tour, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria.
Born in Bergamo, Italy, Ida Pelliccioli’s musical journey is as rich as her performances.
She honed her craft at prestigious institutions like the Nice Conservatoire de Région and the École Normale de Musique de Paris, under the tutelage of renowned maestros such as Serguei Markarov, a UNESCO Artist for Peace.
With numerous accolades and scholarships to her name, including those from the Zygmunt Zaleski Foundation and Fondation Albert Roussel, Pelliccioli’s mastery of the piano has captivated audiences worldwide.
Choosing to carve her own path, Ida eschewed the competitive circuit, opting instead for a deeper exploration of music.
Her academic pursuits led her to earn a double master’s degree in Italian Literature and Ancient Greek History from Sorbonne University, where she specialised in the musical practices of the Hellenistic period.
This unique blend of scholarly insight and artistic excellence shines through in her performances.
Pelliccioli has graced stages across Europe, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. In 2024 alone, she debuted in countries such as Sweden, Lithuania, and Austria and debuts in New Zealand and Thailand in 2025.
Her future engagements include performances at prestigious locations like the National Gallery in London and the Villa Médicis in Rome.
The upcoming recital, titled “A Journey from Spanish Keyboard Music to the Viennese Classic Style,” promises a mesmerising exploration of classical compositions from Baroque Spain to the refined elegance of Vienna.
Audiences will be treated to works by Scarlatti, Blasco de Nebra, Mozart, and Schubert, offering a rare opportunity to experience music that spans centuries and styles.
