The Winelands Philharmonic Orchestra (WPO) will present Classical Kaleidoscope at the Stellenbosch Town Hall on Saturday, March 21.

Founded in 2022 by conductor Reghardt Kühn, the Stellenbosch-based orchestra brings together professional musicians, emerging players and community members from non-musical professions, including teachers, doctors and engineers.

The concert will take place at the historic Stellenbosch Town Hall, a venue that has hosted few classical music performances in recent years.

As part of the programme, the Stellenbosch Youth Orchestra will present a curtain-raiser, reflecting the WPO’s focus on youth development and music education.

Cornelia Casaleggio, the spokesperson for the orchestra, said that since its establishment, the WPO has staged more than 15 large-scale concerts and productions in and around Stellenbosch, including three consecutive appearances at the Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees, as well as a range of community engagements.

The orchestra was founded with a focus on inclusion, access and community participation, and continues to support young musicians through collaborations with community partners.

"Our hope is to place WPO more firmly on the cultural map of Stellenbosch by sharing its community-driven model and long-term contribution to the town’s artistic life," said Ms Casaleggio.
