Classy Classics will present Faces of Love, a live classical music concert exploring different expressions of love, on Sunday, 15 February.
The 110-minute programme features performances by cellist Christine van Niekerk, pianist Coila-Leah Enderstein and classical guitarist Nina Fourie-Gouws. The concert is curated by Lize-Marie Wait.
Organisers said the programme traces an emotional journey through classical works that reflect themes of intimacy, devotion, longing and reflection. Music by composers such as Bach, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Morricone, Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy will be performed.
The afternoon opens with a cello performance by Ms van Niekerk, accompanied by Liesbeth Möller. The set includes works by Bach and Fauré, as well as compositions by Morricone, Casals and Saint-Saëns.
This will be followed by a solo piano recital by Ms Enderstein, featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, before the concert concludes with a guitar programme by Ms Fourie-Gouws. Her set includes music by Bach, Tárrega and Domeniconi.
The concert forms part of Classy Classics’ ongoing live music series, which aims to present curated classical performances to local audiences.
Ms Fourie-Gouws's biography states that she has served as the guitar lecturer at Stellenbosch Konservatorium, where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate practical music studies, accompaniment, repertoire studies and teaching methodology.
Meanwhile, Ms Enderstein is a South African pianist who completed a Master of Arts in Sound Studies at the University of the Arts Berlin in 2022, and has recently returned home, where she continues to pursue both concert work and interdisciplinary projects.
Ms van Niekerk holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Stellenbosch University and currently teaches cello part-time in Cape Town with plans to participate in the International Cello Institute in Minnesota, USA, later this year, according to her biography.
The concert will start at 4pm, and standard tickets are available for R200 on The Drama Factory website.
