Paarl singer-songwriter Dani Villé has released her latest single, Selfbewus, as she prepares for a milestone year that will see her expand both her music and acting career.

The single, released on Friday, February 6, follows a strong 2025 for the artist, during which she gained traction with songs such as Jy’s Okay, Ek Verkies Musiek and Insane. With bookings continuing to stream in, Ms Villé is also set to perform on Bok Radio’s Bok Boot at the end of March.

Adding to her growing profile, she will make her debut as a lead actress in Mêdum the Movie, which is scheduled for nationwide release in cinemas in June.

The song Selfbewus reflects Ms Villé’s signature blend of cool, fun rock sounds while carrying a personal undertone. She said the song was written after a close friendship ended unexpectedly, an experience she says inspired the theme of self-awareness and confidence.

“We just stopped being friends. This friend's motives did not appear honourable to me. It felt like she was too focused on being friends with famous and successful people," said Ms Villé’.

She believes listeners may connect with the track in different ways, whether through romantic breakups or the loss of an insincere friendship.

The music video for Selfbewus, filmed in various locations across Paarl by Julius Bekker, captures Ms Villé’s vibrant stage personality.

The colourful visuals and electric guitars are among her favourite elements.

"I love playing with colour and a lot of movement in a video. My favourite part of the video is definitely the two electric guitars I used. I think they might get more attention than the video itself when people see it,” she said.

Ms Villé has built her career performing at festivals and venues across the country, including KKNK, Paarlberg Festival, and The Daisy Jones Bar, among others.

In 2023, she said she spent three months performing in Berlin, Germany - an experience that later influenced much of the music she released in 2025.

She holds a Diploma in Music Business from the Campus of Performing Arts (COPA) in Cape Town and released her debut EP in 2020, establishing her presence on major streaming platforms.

With a busy performance schedule and new projects on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for the rising artist.
