The Friends of Radloff Park (FORP) are hosting what they hope will become an annual Dogs Fun Day in Radloff Park on Saturday October 12.
Last year thefun day was held on the same day as tree planting, it was such a success that this year it is a stand-alone event.
Members of the public are invited to bring their dogs and their families and try out some of the fun events.
The day will start with demonstrations from Canine Hoopers Helderberg and Strand Agility Centre to show us how it’s done and just how much the dogs love doing these events.
Afterwards people and their dogs will have the opportunity to try and see if their dogs enjoy the obstacles too.
For the doggos who prefer to be stylish and take things a little slower there will be the “Best of events” to enter. The judges will be looking for Lord and Lady Radloff, as well as our largest and smallest dogs.
If you pup likes to dress up, enter the fancy dress event, there will also be prizes for the best biscuit catcher, the scruffiest dog, the dirtiest dog, the best trick performed by your dog and the best Golden Oldie.
Next will be the fun obstacle course where you and your dog will be running or walking over, under or around obstacles.
One of the highlights of the day will be the weaving competition. Three dogs will be weaving through poles and the public will be asked to guess which dog will have the fastest time.
Each event costs R20 to enter and there will be great prizes from our wonderful sponsors. Food and beverages will be on sale and there will be stalls selling various dog products.
For those who want a bit more relaxation, come to the stone painting table. For only R20 all the equipment needed will be available to paint onto stones that can be placed at your memorial trees if you have planted, take them home or hide them in the park for others to find.
Registration for the events will be from 9.30am to 10am, and the last events will be finished by 12.30pm.
Bring your family, bring your dogs and come to Radloff for a day of fun. For more information, see the posters in the park or visit the FORP Facebook page at facebook.com/groups/radloffpark
