Dawie Venter: Heldervue, Somerset West
In response to the needs expressed by our community’s crafters, hot sauce makers, and keepers of white elephants, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Poinsettia Park Community Market.
This vibrant market offers vendors the opportunity to rent a spot for just R200, with all proceeds contributing to the ongoing upkeep of our beloved park.
At our market, you’ll find a delightful array of offerings, including art, crafts, delectable chili and curry sauces, wholesome rusks, tempting sweets, beautifully crafted crochet and macramé items, pure honey, elegant jewelry, stylish dog jackets, aromatic candles, flavorful biltong, and expertly woven baskets.
If you’re eager to secure a spot for your stall, simply reach out to us at poinsettiaparkfriends@gmail.com by May 17, 2024.
Confirmation of successful bookings will be promptly sent via email. Payment for your stand can be made upon arrival at the committee’s hotdog stand. Vendors may share a spot.
Kindly note that the market date is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Join us at the Poinsettia Park Community Market for a day of fun, shopping, and community support.
* Poinsettia Park is a public park in Heldervue, and the local community has taken “ownership” to reverse the decay of the park due to a lack of City funds. They have registered a Non Profit Organisation under the City’s Friends of… guidelines, and are augmenting the City’s limited upkeep program by self mowing the grounds, organising tree planting, assist neighbourhood watch to get vagrants to move on, encouraging street art in the park on specially created art-boards placed along the park’s walkways. They have also staged two Art in the Park events and now a community market to raise funds for the upkeep of the park.

The park has a spectacular vista over False Bay and is a great place to do some fishing, walk your dog or picnic.
