Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Nile will be performed from Wednesday August 21 until Saturday August 31 at The Masque.
The play has all the twists and turns that Agatha Christie’s work is known for – a beautiful heiress on her honeymoon, the working class man she married, a foreigner with a grudge, the jealous ex-fiancé who can’t stop following her ex, a man who isn’t who or what he claims to be, a religious man who knows more than he lets on, and a lady’s maid who had to have seen more than she claims.
All of them are thrown together, caught on a luxury paddle steamer as it makes its way up the Nile.
“Agatha Christie is a vital part of the community theatre world, and we had to have a classic whodunnit from the master as we celebrate 65 years at The Masque this year,” says Faeron Wheeler, head of programming at The Masque.
“This is the first time I’m directing an Agatha Christie murder mystery, although I have acted in a couple of them in the past, so I’m very excited about the opportunities it provides,” says director Barbara Basel.
The production features Lara Serene Fouche as Kay Ridgeway; Timothy Wolfaardt as Simon Mostyn; Sarah-Kate Bergstedt as Jacqueline De Severac; Wayne Ronné as Canon Pennefather; Matthew dos Santos as William Smith; Su Cunningham as Helen ffoliot-ffoulkes; Roux Nel as Christina Grant; Kendal Conradie as Dr Ludwig Bessner; Christine Swanepoel as Louise, and Sfiso Nkosi as Steward/McNaught.
Shows are at 7.30pm with weekend matinees at 2.30pm.
