Paarl musician, Amy Jones has been booked to perform at one of the largest and most popular flower shows in the United Kingdom.
Singer and songwriter, Amy Jones, from Paarl, has been afforded an incredible opportunity to perform on an international platform later this year.
Miss Jones, who first made her debut into the public eye when she entered the Idols SA Season 9 competition way back in 2013, has been invited to headline at the historic Shrewsbury Flower Show.
Idol’s viewers might remember her as the then, 20-year-old bohemian-styled singer, with big afro hair and her guitar when she, for her audition, delivered a very original, soulful rendition of True Colors by Cyndi Lauper.
The flower show will take place in The Quarry, in Shrewsbury in the United Kingdom (UK) on Friday August 12 and Saturday August 13. Ms Jones is scheduled to perform live on the Saturday.
“I really feel so blessed and I’m beyond excited for the show. This is beyond a dream come true for us,” says the local musician, who is represented and managed by Jireh Productions, owned by Lee Willcock.
Since releasing her first single, Sunrise, in 2016, she has released several other singles, Burn, Forget the Day, Get a little, and You and Me in 2018, a collaboration with Cinimin (brothers Kyle and Austin Cassim), earned her a locally renowned musical cap in her feather when the song was selected as the Best EDM Song of the Year at the 2018 Dance Music Awards South Africa.
The opportunity to perform at the Shrewsbury Flower Show was an unexpected one.
“I sang at wedding of a very close friend residing in South Africa. Her wedding was streamed live to the UK and there they heard and saw me for the very first time.
“Thereafter things progressed, and I got asked to be the headline act of the annual flower show held in Shrewsbury.”
She is in full preparation mode for this big moment, and part of that preparation includes the release of new music which she is presently working on. “There’s a new song on its way very soon and then I’ll be releasing an EP right before I leave as well,” she reveals.
Miss Jones, who celebrated her birthday last week on Friday March 4, is beyond hyped up and motivated for this global performance at such a huge event, as well as everything else she has planned for the year.
She credits a higher power and her loyal fans as being the sources of motivation and strength to keep on producing and releasing new music.
“I remain motivated and inspired in the music industry by God firstly, and secondly by the people who listen to my music and those who are touched by the lyrics that I write and the fans who believed in me since the beginning.”
This Paarl songstress has come a long way since her 2013 Idols entry and her message of encouragement to others is centred on persistence and remaining steadfast.
