Concert to support special fundraising initiative
Professor Thuli Madonsela and Endler Concert Series announced a special concert in support of the #Action4Inclusion initiative, on Saturday August 31 at 3pm at Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.
The concert to support this fundraising initiative will feature a captivating performance by the renowned Palissander Chamber Choir and Nic Miso.
The concert will be led by esteemed advocate and social justice champion, Professor Thuli Madonsela.
The #Action4Inclusion is a crucial crowdfunding initiative that forms part of Stellenbosch University’s Bridge the Gap annual fund, aimed at eradicating student debt and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The #Action4Inclusion Palissander Concert marks the kickoff of an ambitious fundraising campaign to support students in need.
Later this year, from Saturday October 26 to Friday November 8, Professor Madonsela will embark on the Pilgrimage of Hope, a 300 km journey from Stellenbosch to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa.
This pilgrimage, which has already seen its first two stages completed in August 2023, is a significant effort to raise awareness and funds to eradicate student debt.
The journey will traverse diverse landscapes, fostering connections with communities along the way and inspiring collective action towards social justice.
The Palissander Chamber Choir, one of South Africa’s premier chamber choirs, has established itself as a beacon of hope and peace, both locally and internationally.
For more than 30 years, Palissander has made a profound impact on audiences through its soul-stirring music, creating spiritual experiences that resonate deeply.
The choir’s founder and conductor, Sarita Hauptfleisch, envisioned Palissander as a choir that makes “music for the soul” and today, it continues to serve as an ambassador for love and peace across the globe.
Professor Thuli Madonsela, reflecting on the concert, added: “Music has the power to heal, to tell stories, and to bridge divides among people, regardless of their diversity.
The Palissander concert is about bringing people together in a collective effort to help solve the student debt problem, which remains a barrier to academic inclusion.”
