A United Kingdom-based charity organisation has joined hands with a local non-profit organisation to aid pupils of the AME Primary School in Eikendal, Kraaifontein.
The Jimmy Aggrey Foundation and the NoStop non-profit organisation, from Kraaifontein, launched the Jimmy Aggrey Foundation Futures Bursary Fund on Tuesday February 4.
This initiative provides financial support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The launch was attended by parents, school officials, and community members.
“Last November, Jimmy Aggrey reached out to us to implement and manage a bursary programme. Given our strong partnership with AME — where we run a vegetable garden and Design Thinking Workshops — the school was the ideal choice,” said Charlene Miles, the director of NoStop.
She said eight pupils have benefited in the piloting project and that the bursary covered essential educational expenses such as school uniforms, transport for educational programmes and learning materials.
The bursary is available for pupils from Grade 1 to Grade 7 who are currently enrolled at the primary school.
Jimmy Aggrey said he was “wholeheartedly” excited for the eight pupils who benefited and their families.
