Helderberg Hospice participated in two exciting sporting events in March.
Team Hospice, an 11-member cycling team took part in the prestigious Cape Town Cycle Tour as a fundraising initiative, and the team completed the challenging route in excellent times.
Their hard work and determination were matched by the incredible support from the community, which helped raise a total of R10 000 for the hospice. The team had members riding their first Cycle Tour, and a veteran member riding his 34th race.
Earlier in the week, on Friday March 7, enthusiastic players participated in a fast-paced night of padel at the Lourensford Virgin Active Padel Club. The event was a thrilling display of skill and athleticism, with spectators treated to an exciting final match.
The winning team, Clifford Loock and Alet Heine, triumphed after having to contest every point against worthy runners up, Rheeder Martinus and Liamdu Toit of Schmidhauser, in a competitive match which added an extra layer of excitement to the evening.
CEO Robert de Wet thanked title sponsors Anna Basson Properties, who together with MultiNet Home Loans, helped to make the evening possible. He went on to acknowledge gratefully the many local wine estates and businesses who donated prizes for the winners, runners up and raffle winners.
He said that every participant in these two events played an integral role in supporting their hospice and palliative care work, and that the funds raised will go a long way in ensuring that the hospice can continue to serve the Helderberg community for at least another 40 years.
Both events were a wonderful success, showcasing the spirit of generosity that makes such a positive impact on the lives of others.
