Local animation company, Toony Animation, is calling for applications for its free four-month animation programme which starts this month.

The programme, which runs from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4pm, from Friday May 2 to Friday August 29 , will teach participants the skills they need to create animated content.

It will cover a wide range of topics, including animation principles and techniques, character design, storyboarding, background design, digital ink and paint, and professional conduct.

“The intensive programme is open to youth over the age of 18 years, people with disabilities, women and those that have artistic merit but have had very little or no formal training in art,” said facilitator and Toony founder, Garth Sanders.

“The programme's intentions are to provide skills in digital art and animation to the selected participants and for them to use those skills to generate revenue for themselves.”

No prior experience in animation is required.

For more information about the requirements and how to submit your portfolio and application, visit Toony’s website at https://www.toony.co.za/digiart/

The closing date for applications is Sunday April 27.
