A collaborative project between the Melkshoot Community Forum and the Lourensia Park Neighbourhood Watch, saw children from Lourensia Park residential area take to the streets in a clean-up initiative on Youth Day on Monday, June 16. More than 50 children participated in cleaning the area, picking up litter and sweeping streets. Pictured above, are some of the young participants on the day of the event.

As a reward for their hard work the participating children were given a hot cup of soup, hotdogs, doughnuts and party packets.

Children from Lourensia Park took matters into their own hands and headed out to their streets to clean-up their community on Youth Day. Sheila Muller, a member of the neighbourhood watch, said the event was a huge success and the children was excited and happy to be part of it.
