Enjoy free entry for kids at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden this winter

Children and youth under the age of 18 will get in free at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens from Monday June 30, until Thursday July 17, as part of their Winter Wonders holiday programme.

Young explorers can enjoy adventure walks on Wednesday July 2, Wednesday July 9 and Wednesday July 16 from 11am until 12 noon for children between the ages of six to 12 years. Teenagers between the ages of 13 to17 can enjoy the adventure walks on Thursday, July 3 from 2pm till 4pm and on Thursday July 17 from 11am until 1pm. Each adventurer will receive a complimentary hot chocolate at Moyo to warm up after their walk.

Events and tourism manager at Kirstenbosch, Sarah Struys, said the holidays are a fun time for the whole family.

“Parents can enjoy a quiet stroll in the garden, a bite at one of our restaurants, while the children can colour, build or play,” she said.

Children from the ages of seven to 14 can also enjoy the Happy by Nature workshops which combine art, wellness, and cover themes like protea patterns, edible plants, plant–animal partnerships, birds, and insect-inspired. 

Those workshops run from today Monday, June 30 , then Wednesday July 2, Friday July 4, Monday July 7, Wednesday July 9, and Friday July 11 from 10am until 12.30 noon. Book at https://happybynature.com

Young bookworms can also visit the garden’s bookshop with special book readings and signings with Peter Rabbit on Friday July 4, Tuesday July 8, Thursday July 10, and Tuesday July 15 from 10am.
