The City of Cape Town libraries are offering a variety of holiday programmes during school holidays to keep children entertained. Last week some of these holiday programmes kicked off at Strand and Somerset West public libraries. At the Somerset West library the fun started with a talk on winter water safety presented by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) on Friday, July 4. Drowning prevention instructor, Zakriyyaa Abrahams shared his presentation on keeping safe around water bodies with children and parents attending the session. At Strand library the holiday programme started on Tuesday, July 1 with a puppet show presented by Read to Rise. The holiday programme at this library will run until Thursday July 17, and features a range of activities including story sessions, craft activities, resillience training for children, coding and robotics fun and other activities. The children can here be seen at the puppet show hosted in the library hall.
