A wine estate from Franschhoek is presenting a milling and bread bread-baking experience where guests will learn about the traditional art of making bread.
This experience will happen on every third Thursday and Saturday of the month, starting from Thursday, September 18.
From ancient millstones to the estate’s historic watermill, the home bakers and bread lovers are invited into the bakery with its wood-fired oven, an overview of fermentation and the sourdough method, while being allowed to try shaping a loaf and tasting a variety of breads.
This experience will also be suitable for wine and culinary enthusiasts, friends looking for a unique outing, or for tourists in the Cape Winelands, according to Mareli Roux, the public relations manager of the wine estate.
Lessons will be given about important health aspects of making bread, optimally using and storing it like a professional chef.
Enjoy a laid-back lunch while your sourdough loaf is baking and go home with it and a bottle of wine, as well as ‘The Cultured Loaf’ book by Markus Farbinger.
The doors will open from 9am until 1:30pm, and it will cost R850 for each person to join.
