In the spirit of Women's Month, ILoveBoobies and SCP Radiology have partnered for their annual Bring a Bra initiative.
This campaign aims to restore the dignity of underprivileged women through the donation of gently worn bras.
ILoveBoobies, a non-profit organisation, provides free clinical breast exams and awareness drives in underserved communities.
The organisation said in a statement: "With one in 27 South African women at risk of developing breast cancer, early detection and education are vital.”
Until the end of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women are encouraged to donate gently used bras, which can be dropped off at nine of the radiology practice’s branches.
These bras will be gifted to women undergoing screenings with ILoveBoobies, offering both comfort and care.
As an official mammography partner of ILoveBoobies, the radiology practice provides free mammograms and ultrasounds to patients referred by the ILoveBoobies charity throughout the year.
“It’s a simple way to show up for women who need it most,’” said Lelani Terblanche, the radiographer of the practice.
“As a practice that regularly performs breast cancer examinations on women and, with some of our staff being breast cancer survivors, we are only too aware of the importance of regular exams and early detection.”
The SCP Radiology has branches and drop-off boxes in Panorama, Durbanville, Cape Gate, Bellville, and Paarl.
