Western Cape Artists Society is presenting an oil painting talk by Roelof Rossouw at the Rotary Club Hall in Somerset West on Thursday, August 14.
Mr Rossouw was born and raised in Benoni, near Johannesburg, and he is a painter of figures, city landscapes, street scenes, boats, harbours, architecture, interiors, portraits, restaurant scenes, and gardens.
He works mainly in oils, but also mixed media, and travelled internationally, with a few painting vacations in Italy, France, and Ukraine.
He has a total of 51 solo exhibitions at top galleries in South Africa and internationally, having won many prestigious First Prize awards from 2001 to 2025.
His biography stated that in 2009, three of Mr Rossouw’s Cape Landscape oil paintings were hired to feature as props in Clint Eastwood’s movie Invictus. After the filming, Clint Eastwood purchased two of the paintings.
Guests are encouraged to arrive at 6pm, but the talk will start at 6:30pm, at a cost of R20 for members and R30 for non-members. Tea and snacks will be served.
