Somerset West Unitarian Fellowship is presenting a talk by Reverend Roux Malan, which will explore Baruch Spinoza’s revolutionary 5-point framework for daily living, themed Beyond Dogma: Spinoza's 5-Point Blueprint for a Rational and Meaningful Life.
Mr Spinoza is best known for his ideas about God, rationality, and knowledge. He believed that God is an infinite intellect that is present in all things in the universe, with all things being unified.
Participants at the talk will gain lessons on how to master emotions through understanding, find connection in a seemingly indifferent universe, and cultivate a resilient and authentic joy rooted in their own power.
The talk will take place on Saturday, September 6 at 10am, at the Vonke Meeting Room, Vonke House, 121 Lourensford Road, Somerset West. A free Zen meditation session will be offered beforehand at 8:55am in the same venue.
