Masikhule, a local non-profit that trains educators in Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Somerset West, is set to take part in a 20km swim to celebrate 20 years of servicing the ECD community in the Helderberg area.
A group of 10 to 14 ocean swimmers is expected to swim from Gordons Bay to Rooi Els on Saturday, September 27, but this is subject to change, depending on weather conditions.
They will be joining Guinness World Record holder, Howard Warrington, on his official 20km qualifier swim, as he trains for his ultimate challenge: the inaugural False Bay Challenge taking place in 2026.
All funds raised will go towards Masikhule’s nutrition pillar, which will ensure that more than 2 200 young children continue to receive a nutritious meal daily.
Four local ocean swimmers who completed the 35 km False Bay crossing from Miller’s Point to Rooi Els in 2024 will be part of the team to conquer the coastline, from Gordon’s Bay to Rooi Els, together with Howard Warrington.
