Vergelegen wine estate played host to the annual Tim Atkin SA Wines of the Year Showcase on Tuesday, 2 September.
The event gave guests the chance to meet the renowned critic in person while sampling his top-rated selections — wines that each scored 95 points or higher in his 2025 annual report.
Tim Atkin, an award-winning British wine writer and Master of Wine with a global reputation, said he tasted 2 000 wines from 425 South African producers for his thirteenth annual overview. From this, 212 wines achieved 95 points or more — his equivalent of a gold medal.
“I hope that the reviews and scores in my report, as well as the Medals of Excellence given to wines that have scored more than 90 points, will ensure that more people are made aware of the outstanding quality of South African wines,” he added.
