Police arrested a 44-year-old man in Strand for possession of abalone on Friday, September 5.

Members of the Public Order Police (POPS) followed up on information about an abalone storage facility at the premises in Bosch Street, Strand, and found 206 units of abalone in the house after searching, said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie. 

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment confirmed to Bolander that the abalone had a street value of R96 327 12.
