Marusa Mason-Sheel, accompanied by two artists, Pieter Coetzer and Taryn Saayman, will display their latest works at a private venue in Somerset West for art lovers at no cost on Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20.

Ms Mason-Sheel is a local artist who is best known for her underwater-themed oil paintings of dolphins, whales, and sharks.

She loves working in mixed media when doing her large abstract canvases, but works predominantly in oil painting and specialises in portraiture, babies, children and adults, and pets.

In 2023, Ms Mason-Sheel reopened the Bright Street Gallery and incorporated a memory clinic for dementia patients, as well as art classes for children and various workshops.

“The gallery rented spaces to artists at a minimal cost, and no commission was taken. However, this concept was not viable without external financial support, so the gallery was closed a year later,” she said.

This event will be a collaboration between the three artists and musician Hanlie Dippenaar-Stehli, who will entertain the audience with a few songs on Friday evening.

It will take place at 15 Upper Mountain Road, Somerset West, from 6pm till 8.30pm on Friday, with a speech from Marusa at 6.45pm. The event will take place again from 10am till 12.30pm on the Saturday.
