U3A Helderberg welcomes Professor Servaas Van Der Berg to discuss ‘Money and Education'

Emeritus Professor of Economics at Stellenbosch University, Servaas Van Der Berg, will be the next speaker in the meeting of the University of the Third Age (U3A) Helderberg on Thursday, October 2.

Emeritus Professor of Economics at Stellenbosch University, Servaas Van Der Berg, will be the next speaker in the meeting of the University of the Third Age (U3A) Helderberg on Thursday, October 2. He will speak on the subject of ‘Money and Education.’ 

The meeting will take place from 9:30am until noon at the Somerset West United Church. The room can accommodate approximately 60 people. Members who attend should wear their membership cards and are expected to contribute R10, and non-members contribute R20 each.

Professor Van Der Berg holds the National Research Foundation’s South African National Research Chair in the Economics of Social Policy. His research covers economic development, poverty and income distribution, the economics of education, health and welfare, and fiscal incidence.

U3A Helderberg is part of an international network of learning groups aimed at encouraging people in the third age of their lives to take part in a wide range of activities at low cost, share their skills with others, take up new interests and hobbies, make new friends, and generally have fun.

The 2025 annual membership cost for U3A Helderberg is only R90.
