A total of 51 cellphones stolen in Khayamnandi and Bellville were recovered on Thursday, October 16, police said.
Members of Maitland Flying Squad received information on Thursday afternoon stating that a clothing retailer in Khayamandi was robbed of cellphones, according to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk.
“The members followed up further information and the suspects were arrested at 5.30pm on the same day in Kruskal Avenue, Bellville.
“The members confiscated altogether 51 cellular telephones that were robbed at the store in Khayamandi as well as a different shop in Bellville. The combined estimated value of these devices is R 500 000,” said Captain Van Wyk.
Three suspects aged between 30 and 40 were arrested and detained at Bellville police station for a case of possession of stolen property. They were due to appear at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court once charged.
