Stellenbosch Municipality and Shincheonji Volunteers group hosted the Leaders Circle Interactive Workshop on Saturday, October 25, aimed at promoting mental well-being and social transformation within the Klapmuts community.

Over 100 community leaders and stakeholders, including representatives from the South African Mental Health Foundation and Community Keepers, gathered at the Klapmuts Multipurpose Centre.

October marks World Mental Health Awareness Month, which is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and encouraging conversations about mental well-being.

The workshop featured interactive wellness stalls on cancer, substance abuse, and mental health awareness, health check-ups, and a resolve wall where attendees left colourful handprints as a symbol of shared commitment to positive change.

“Partnering across religions and within social welfare initiatives strengthens our unity and helps us build one country, standing together as one,” said John Anthony, a Stellenbosch Municipality representative.

The organisers signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which established a framework for future projects in Klapmuts, including the installation of a new community signboard and continued local engagements.
