Upcoming road resurfacing works in Somerset West

The City will be carrying out road resurfacing work along various roads in the greater Somerset West from Tuesday, October 28 until Thursday, December 18.

The City will be carrying out road resurfacing work along various roads in the greater Somerset West from Tuesday, October 28, until Thursday, December 18. 

This project will also include the removal of damaged kerbs, installing new kerbs, and the reinstatement of all road markings removed during the process, said Rob Quintas, the mayoral committee member for urban mobility.

“I would like to thank all residents and road users for their patience during the course of this maintenance work that aims to keep Cape Town moving on good quality roads,’’ he said.

The work will be done between 7am and 5pm from Monday to Friday, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. Only one lane will be open to traffic in each direction during working times.

The affected roads are: Bizweni Avenue, Schapenberg Road, New Street, Myburgh Road, Morkel Street, St George Street, Drama Street, Angus Street, Cloetenberg Road, Swalle Street, Parel Vallei Road, Birkenhead Street, Helderzicht Road, Waterford Street, Van der Merwe Road, Hillcrest Road, Upper Mountain Road, Jakaranda Street, Nassau Avenue, Bordeaux Close, Barlinka Avenue, Pyracantha Street, and Abelia Street.
