The Helderberg Rotary Anns donated 50 packs of reusable and washable sanitary pads to pupils at Raithby Primary School on Thursday, November 20, to support girls who cannot afford them.

The donation formed part of the organisation’s Project Dignity campaign, which has been running in the Helderberg area for more than 11 years.

"We go to local schools where the social workers select girls who can benefit from this project. Since the inception of the project, we have handed out more than 1 000 packs of pads. Each pack has a value of nearly R300,” said Ingrid Edelson of the Rotary Anns.

Project Dignity aims to ensure that girls are able to attend school without being held back by a lack of access to sanitary products.

Principal at the primary school, Charmaine Anthony, expressed gratitude to the Helderberg Rotary Anns.

"We appreciate this gesture. This donation makes a big difference, as many girls sometimes cannot afford these products. Through your support, you helped them maintain their dignity and improve their school attendance."
