Animal lovers, artists and animal welfare supporters will come together in Somerset West later this month for a creative fundraiser in support of vulnerable pets.

The Art with HART exhibition, hosted by the Helderberg Animal Rescue Team (HART), will take place on Saturday, February 28, from 10am to 2:30pm at Cat Heaven Rescue Cat Cafe in Bright Street.

The event will feature an exhibition and sale of donated artworks celebrating cats and dogs through creativity, colour and expression. Proceeds will go directly towards supporting the organisation’s rescue efforts, including medical care and feeding for animals in need.

According to Louise Spagnuolo, chairperson and founder of HART, the response from the creative community has been overwhelming.

“We have 29 artists and seven crafters so far, and counting, as we are still receiving up until the day before the event from all over South Africa," she said.

Funds raised on the day will assist with the care of the many animals currently under HART’s protection.

The organisation is currently caring for 20 puppies, as well as 35 kittens and cats. Special focus will also be placed on Lily, a puppy who was taken in with severe hip dysplasia in both her back legs and requires ongoing medical treatment.

Ms Spagnuolo said that at the exhibition there will be animal-themed art on sale, including stunning tapestries, prints, paintings, and many other beautiful pieces.

Tickets cost R30 and are available on Quicket. For more information, contact Logan on 082 348 8432.

Residents are encouraged to attend and support both local creatives and the lifesaving work being done for animals in the Helderberg region.
