On Saturday August 27, the One Heart Movement presents the One Heart for Kids/Els for Autism family trail run and mountain bike ride, at the Ernie Els wine estate in Stellenbosch.
The event is in aid of educational and community development, and will raise funds for reading materials in schools and institutions that cater for children with special needs. The One Heart for Kids non-profit movement was founded by the Sustainable Development Network, and aims to help children across Southern Africa learn how to read.
The movement endeavours to use family-orientated sport events such as trail running and MTB cycling as a fundraising platform in order to raise awareness for worthy causes and to assist schools, teachers, rural development areas and farms to improve literacy.
All ages are invited to “run and ride for love”. There will be three running distances: a 10km trail run, a pram-friendly 5km family trailrun/walk, and a 3km trail-run for children. There is also a 30km ride event for mountain bike enthusiasts.
