The year is off to a busy start for members of the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club. The group kicks off their community outreach work with the official handover and opening of a new computer learning facility at the Oklahoma Primary School in Macassar.
The computer learning facility was installed by Helderberg Sunrise Rotary, which started out with a donation of computers from overseas and then the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club identified a worthy recipient school where the greatest impact could be made.
A classroom at Oklahoma Primary was made available, but it needed a total refurbishment which included new flooring, ceiling, desks, electrical conduits, air-conditioning, painting, burglar proofing, blinds, work the club proceeded with.
The official opening of the new facility, a major boost to the school, will take place on Friday February 7, 1pm at the school.
The next event for which planning is in full swing by the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club is a fund-raiser for the club. It will be in the from of a “Night at the Races” event to be held at Stellenrust Wine Farm, off the R44, on Friday March 14. The fund-raiser will be in the form of a formal dinner, with a cash bar, a raffle and other big prizes to be won.
The event will start at 6pm for 6.30pm and tickets cost R450 per person. The dress code will be formal. To book tickets, send an email to race@hsrotary.co.za by Friday March 7.
