The traditional rich fruitcake weighs 1kg, is alcohol-free and costs R115. The Lions fruitcakes initiative has been a major fundraising project of Lions Clubs in South Africa since 1975, so buying a cake means a contribution to a service projects in the community, as 100% of the money raised by any Lions Club in the world is used to finance projects in their communities. Gordon’s Bay Lions Club hosts Christmas parties for children and seniors and organises a Christmas hamper project for struggling families.
