Tamzyn Jacobs (11) looks out over the sea at the Old Harbour in Gordon’s Bay on Saturday September 16, when seas were still relatively calm, but there were signs of waves becoming stronger. Not even an hour after leaving the area and Bikini Beach, Gordon’s Bay social media platforms were flooded with havoc caused by the high tide resulting in gigantic waves flooding the shore and crashing over the rails at the beachfront, so much so that cars were swept along with it. Residents and beach goers recorded nail-biting scenes of fear and panic caused by these massive waves surging on to the beach front. PICTURE: CARMEN JACOBS
