The Cape Town Museum of Childhood (CTMoC) is celebrating World Children’s Day by having its annual Fun Walk on the Rondebosch Common on Saturday, November 22.

World Children’s Day is celebrated annually on November 20 which marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and serves as a global reminder to advocate for the well-being and empowerment of every child.

The Rondebosch-based Cape Town Museum of Childhood (CTMoC) forms part of the Centre for Early Childhood Development (CECD), a non-profit organisation.

The museum provides a safe space for children to explore and learn. It features a toy room, archives of child-related news articles, and an activity room where children can play. The CTMoC also conducts outreach programmes to early childhood development centres in outlying areas.

The Museum’s outreach manager, Chanel Joseph, said through their Fun Walk, the museum aims to bring these values to life by combining awareness, celebration, and community participation. “Join us as we walk for children, celebrate their rights, and promote a culture of care and respect for every child,” she said.

All are welcome to join the free Fun Walk. The Fun Walk will take place at Rondebosch Common on Saturday, November 22, from 9am until 11am. The meeting spot will be at the CTMoC entrance at 3 Milner Road, Rondebosch. For more information, email Ms Joseph at cjoseph@cecd.org.za
